Carols Continued

A few of us got together for a practice, and to make progress with Corelli’s Christmas Concerto. Our Piece is but a small section of the whole which I have just enjoyed on You Tube. (Dorothea Oberlinger and Tabea Seibert with Sonatori de la Marca) What a magnificent and celebratory Concerto this is!

We had not realised that “Ding Dong Merrily on High” originates from the 16th Century. We have a few Polish Carols, and enjoyed “In the Quiet Night”, which has a variety of tempos, and the bass has a useful part, not just long similar notes!

“Bonny Sweet Robin” by Anthony Holborne , another 16th Century Composer, is a short piece , with two flats, so is somewhat mournful but nevertheless beautiful.
