About

Llanrwst Recorder Players is not a class,. It is a group of people who have a range of musical ability, who simply enjoy meeting to play pieces that are pitched at approximately grades 3-5. Members do however improve their playing through regular participation in the group!

The membership is free but players pay £4 to attend each meeting as we have church hire costs to cover. These payments can be made on line or by cash on the day. Several members choose to pay for a number of sessions by paying on line. If this sum is difficult for a member to afford, we can make a concession.

Members contribute to each new playlist, which changes every few months. We enjoy playing Early Music which , because of the great acoustics sounds good in the church; but we also appreciate the need for variety as you will see in our current playlist!

If you do not have a music stand, or even a recorder at the moment, but are able to read music, and would like to play with us, we might be able to lend you these for a while until and if you want to buy your own. We have some tutor books if you are totally new to the recorder, and can put you in touch with a tutor, if need be. Please contact us for a chat, so that we can see how to help.

You will not only need your recorder and music stand, but to be familiar with email and downloading and printing off music. All communication with members is done by email , and music is sent out as pdfs.

Have you thought of playing a larger recorder?

At the moment we happen to have mainly ladies, so although we welcome anyone, we would really like to have some more men in the group!

Occasionally we have a mini-workshop when a local tutor / musician/ arranger (Richard Warford ) comes to give us 2hrs of fascinating and stimulating playing time. The video below was taken during such an occasion.

Some of us choose to meet in each others houses to put in a little extra practice. This video was taken when we had a small workshop last February. The conductor is a local music tutor, and arranger. (Richard Warford).

As with any group, the more that a member is involved, the more they will get out of it, and the more the group will flourish.

If you would like to have further information, or would like to get involved you would be most welcome. (This can be done via the Contact page, or do call 07826 780547)
