A brilliant afternoon! Richard Warford (music tutor and arranger) came to conduct a very enjoyable workshop yesterday. In just 2hrs we were playing differently, and even managed the whole of the piece from Christmas Concerto by Correlli, which has until yesterday had been a challenge! Having him conduct was a great help, and his key messages of “don’t rush” “Emphasise the first beat of the bar” ” Use stronger breath to hit notes correctly” “don’t worry about playing a wrong note, keep the correct timing going and press on! ” and “Listen to each other” were all so helpful. We finished with “Scherzo” by Benjamin Britten. A totally new sound for us! Fast staccato with trills, and several rests of a number of bars….,This will be something to enjoy working on for a while! It is great news that he is happy to return! Thank you Richard.
