Honing Harmony

The most fulfilling 10 years of my nursing career was spent working with very profoundly disabled young children , in a team that worked in happy skilled unison. Everyone contributed to that special collective feeling . There were difficult and sad days, just as there were many hugely uplifting ones. We carried one another and shared those ups and downs, listening to each other all the time, fitting in and anticipating..

Perhaps it is similar when playing music in a group. We go through the team working challenges of learning new pieces, listening to each other, fitting in, and anticipating.. sometimes having to take a part alone, but gradually more and more moments appear when that emerging magical harmony makes us think “Yes! this is what it is all about!”.
